Hannaford Coupon Acceptance Policy
We want our customers to get the best value in our stores and encourage them to utilize coupons to save on their groceries. Unfortunately, because we are seeing an increase in counterfeit coupons, we have found it necessary to institute a coupon acceptance policy.
We do not accept coupons that:
- Appear to have been photocopied
- Have expired or are missing an expiration date
- Do not have a UPC scan bar, or do not scan
- Have been identified as fraudulent by the manufacturer
Store management has final discretion in accepting, denying or limiting the use of any coupon presented. Unfortunately, because we are not always able to ascertain which coupons are legitimate and which are not, we will encounter times that our policy might prohibit some customers from redeeming valid coupons. We certainly regret any inconvenience or frustration this causes.

I will have to research this further because I have also seen around the web a PDF file with what is titled an updated coupon policy. If this updated policy is true, it will change a few things about how Hannaford deals with coupons and in my opinion, some of these changes will make shopping there with coupons pretty near useless. Basically, the changes that are alarming are these:
1.- No stacking coupons. Only one coupon allowed per item, period.
2.- You cannot combine additional coupons with a Buy One, Get One coupon. So, no additional $1/1 manufacturer coupons, for example.
3.- Hannaford's will only accept printed or internet coupons for free items if there is a purchase requirement, such as a Buy One, Get One.
4.- There is a coupon value limit of $5.
I will call the Customer Information Center to ask about these items and update this post accordingly.
